Part
Warfare
You might say: exterminate, combat, war
The use of units to fight for cities and territory.
- What it does
- Makes borders contested and gives expansion a military path.
- Ask
- When is war worth more than building, and can the player tell?
What to look for
- Armies and fleets on the map
- An attack preview before combat
Parts
- Units: The pieces on the map: settlers, scouts, workers and military units, each with movement, strength and abilities.
- Combat model: The rules for how a fight resolves: multiple units in a tile, one unit per tile, a separate tactical map, or automatic fleet combat.
- Combat odds: The predicted result of an attack, shown before the player commits.
- Movement and supply: Movement points and logistics rules that limit how far units can travel and what it costs to keep them in the field.
- War weariness: Unhappiness or another cost that grows as an empire fights prolonged or costly wars.
