Part
Audience and analytics
You might say: viewers, stats, YouTube Studio
The people who watch, and the numbers that describe what they did: how often the video was shown, clicked, watched and returned to.
- What it does
- Tells you which part of the video failed, so you fix the right thing.
- Ask
- Did they not click, not stay, or not come back?
- Trouble
- You look only at views, which mixes every cause together.
What to look for
- Analytics numbers for shown, clicked and watched
- A returning-viewer count
Parts
- Impressions: How many times the thumbnail was shown to viewers.
- Click-through rate: The share of impressions that became views.
- Audience retention: A graph of the share of viewers still watching at each moment.
- Average view duration: How long a view lasts on average, also given as a percentage of the video.
- Returning viewers: Viewers who watched your channel before and came back in the period.
- Monetisation: Ways the audience pays for the work: a share of ad revenue, sponsorships, memberships and fan funding, your own products, and affiliate links.
- Discovery loop: Viewers click and watch; the recommendation system learns they liked it and shows it to more people like them; more of them click and watch.
- Audience saturation: A video reaches its most interested viewers first.
