Piece moves

You might say: how the pieces move, legal movement

Each piece has a defined movement geometry; bishops, rooks and queens slide along unobstructed lines, while knights jump and pawns have asymmetric moves.

What it does
Defines the destinations, blocks and captures that a legal move can use.
Ask
Which squares can this piece legally reach, and what blocks or captures along the way?

What to look for

  1. Sliding bishops, rooks and queens
  2. Knights jumping
  3. Pawns with asymmetric moves
