Process
Workflow
You might say: production process, pipeline, how I make videos
The repeatable steps from idea to published video and back: ideas, script, shoot, edit, publish, review.
- What it does
- Makes quality and pace repeatable instead of heroic.
- Ask
- Where does a video usually get stuck?
- Trouble
- Each video is made from scratch, and half-finished videos pile up.
Parts
- Production cycle: Ideas, script, shoot, edit, publish, review, and the review feeds the next idea.
- Shoot: Recording the takes: set the light, frame and sound, then record several takes of each line, often read from a teleprompter.
- Batching: Doing the same kind of task for several videos in one session: write four scripts, then shoot four, then edit.
- Screening: Showing a cut to a few people before publishing and noting where they were confused, bored or delighted.
- Post-mortem: After publishing, compare the video’s numbers with your channel’s usual numbers, find the cause of each difference, and write down what to keep and what to change.
- Cadence vs quality: Posting more means less time per video; if quality drops, each video earns fewer views, which tempts you to post even more.
