Part
Picture
You might say: visuals, video quality, the shot
Everything the camera records and the frame shows: shape, composition, light and camera settings, plus the cutaway shots.
- What it does
- Makes the video easy to watch and the subject easy to read.
- Ask
- Is the subject clear, well lit and framed for the screen it will play on?
- Trouble
- Dark, noisy or badly framed shots; important things covered by the app’s buttons.
What to look for
- Subject shape and composition in each frame
- Light and camera settings visible in image quality
- Cutaway shots alongside the main view
Parts
- Aspect ratio: The frame’s width to height.
- Framing: Where the subject sits in the frame: shot size, headroom and eye line.
- Lighting: The light on the subject.
- Camera settings: Frame rate, shutter speed, aperture and ISO.
- B-roll: Footage cut in over the main shot: the thing you are talking about, a demo, a detail.
- Safe zone: The part of a vertical frame that the app’s buttons, caption and username do not cover.
